Social Issue

At my school we're working on social issue projects. In case you don't know what a social issues, it's an issue that effects a certain person within a certain place.

The social issue topic I picked is suicide. I feel this topic is insanely important because it's a serious problem with teenagers. I personally know anyone who has committed suicide, but I feel like I need to address the effects it has on people around you, and what some signs are, so you can help prevent it, and make people more aware of it.

A lot of teens are struggling with depression, and there are many teens that end up killing themselves because they're struggling with many things, you might not even know how they're feeling. Some people tell, but a lot of them keep things to themselves, and that can end up being a major bad thing.

Some people that do this don't realize that once you're gone you're gone, there's no coming back, and ending your life is a decision that shouldn't be made. Some people just don't feel like they can take it anymore, and they just decide to do it, without thinking. They don't think about how it'll effect the people around them, or if the problem they're dealing with is really that bad that they have to do it.

“Because if you kill yourself, you're also going to kill the people who love you.”
“No, you aren't alone. Yes, we all feel this way sometimes. No, you won't always feel like this. Yes, the world is a better place with you in it.”

Top Songs

1. "Love on the Brain" by Rihanna: This is an amazing R&B song, I just love her so much, she can do so many different styles of music, and I love it!
2. "Halo" by Beyonce: This is an older song, but it still has an amazing message, and Queen Bey is always amazing, but this specific song I've been finding myself singing a lot.
3. "Only" by Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Drake, and Lil Wayne: I love the way these guys came together and did this song, I always find myself dancing when I turn it on, it's just one of those songs, if you know what I mean.
4. Nothing specific, but I've been singing along to a bunch of different Twenty One Pilots songs, they're great in general!
5. "Side to Side" by Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj: I just love this song, and I'm pretty sure almost everyone does, it's on the radio a lot. I don't really have an exact reason why I like it, it's just a fun song to listen to.
6. "24K Magic" by Bruno Mars: I don't really know, it's one of those songs that you don't really know why, but you know every single word to it, and so you listen to it 24/7.
7. "That's What I Like" by Bruno Mars: see number 6 😝
8. "Rockabye" by Clean Bandit, Sean Paul, and Anne-Marie: I love how this song is kind of calming, and it's a song that I like to listen to if I'm trying to fall asleep, or do homework.

Top 5 Things I'm Loving Right Now

1. I'm absolutely obsessed with wearing baggy sweatshirts and sweatpants right now. They're pretty much the most comfortable thing ever. I'm pretty sure almost everyone can agree with me about that.

2. Blueberry bagels with peanut butter. I know what you're thinking, that sounds gross, but if you're saying that then you've never had them. It tastes sooooo good.

3. My Heroes of Olympus book. It's so good so far. I would defiantly recommend it for everyone to read. If you're wondering what it's about I gave links and a little summary of it on my previous post.

4. Music, I've been listening to music while I do everything lately.  And I'm pretty sure everyone has done this, where they blast music and dance around like a complete idiot, and if not then I guess I'm just really weird.

5. Twisted, it's this really amazing show that I found on Netflix, you could actually watch it on "Freeform" if you wanted to. I'm patiently waiting for the second season to come out o Netflix. It's this really great murder mystery show, I'm absolutely addicted to it.

Yearbook Cover!!

It's basically a competition where people from every homeroom in the middle school draw their idea for something to put on the cover of our yearbooks. I didn't originally want to, I only did because my homeroom nominated me to do it.
Then on Friday last week, when we were all in homeroom, they announced who won over the intercom. It was so funny though because my homeroom was being super loud and then all of a sudden we hear " The winner of the yearbook cover design is...", my class falls dead silent, then right when they say my name, my friends surround me, their cheering and giving me high-fives, and it was just so much fun!
I was so happy when I found out it was me, so now there's going to be a picture of me holding the yearbook in the yearbook. 😜😂

Christmas Break

The past week and a half was our Christmas break. For the first 3 1/2 days we had power, but then Christmas afternoon, it was like perfect timing, right after the movie we watched, the power turned off. It was only out for about an hour, then it turned back on, but in like 30 mins. it turned completely off. We originally didn't know why, but then my dad found out that it was because a bunch of power lines had been knocked down.
We had power out until Friday, our house was only at like 40 degrees, but we got a generator so we got our heat up to 50 degrees. We had to live in darkness, so when we didn't have to walk around the house with flashlights the whole time, it was really different to have our power back. The Christmas break was really boring without our electronics though.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

This week is Thanksgiving, so we have only three days of school which is exciting. I've always loved Thanksgiving it's my second favorite holiday. I always love visiting my relatives and hanging out with some of them that I don't normally get to see. I also love eating the food, I always look forward to that. The food's always so amazingly good it's really hard not to like it.

For my family it's kind of like a tradition to drink sparkling cider, eat dinner rolls and stuffing, and have some kind of dessert. The dessert is't usually pie, since my brother doesn't like pie ( I know he's super weird ) we usually just eat like ice cream or cake or both.

You might think I'm weird because I don't like turkey, which is the main food that is celebrated and used for Thanksgiving, so I always eat my grandma's amazing stuffing. My cousin and I always used to fight over who gets to eat the rest after everyone has gotten some. My grandma was so sick of us arguing about it, so she now she makes us each a box of stuffing that we eat, then take the rest home.

Homecoming!!!!!

This week is Homecoming and I always look forward to it because we have dress up days for each day of the week, today is Monday, so it's Sports Day. Tuesday is Gender Bender Day and if you don't know what that is it's basically where you dress as the opposite gender. Wednesday is Beach/Tropical day. Thursday is Hobo Day, and Friday is Maroon and Gold Day since those are our school colors. Friday is always the best day of Homecoming week because there's always a parade and I usually go and watch it, but this year I have to march in it for band. I always look forward to the football games though they're always really fun, and this year it's going to be our team, the Bulldogs, versus the Pheasants.
